Patricia Ann Garrett, 90, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2026, at her home in Magnolia Springs Bridgewater in Carmel, Indiana. She was born on January 5, 1936, in Gadsden, Alabama, the daughter of Margaret Louise (Allen) Milner and Clifford E. Robinson. Pat grew up in Norfolk, Virginia, where she married the love of her life, Thomas “Tommy” Garrett, on December 2, 1954, and they shared a wonderful marriage until his passing in 2009.
Pat was a deeply spiritual woman who grew up in the Church and remained devoted to her faith throughout her life. She held membership at Shamrock First Baptist Church in Haines City, Florida, until moving to Indiana. To everyone who knew her, Pat had an exceptionally big heart, freely giving her time, energy, and kindness to the people around her. She was known for her warm smile, her ready laughter, and the way she made everyone feel welcome. Pat never met a stranger and had a special gift for turning acquaintances into friends.
Throughout her life, Pat loved to travel, especially with her family. She and Tommy took their children and grandchildren across the country in their RV, exploring new places and enjoying the beauty of the sights and scenery. Amusement parks were among her favorite destinations, and she visited many across the country. Pat loved RV life so much that she and Tommy eventually gave up their home in Virginia to travel full-time before settling in an RV community in Davenport, Florida, where they enjoyed retirement surrounded by many good friends
In her quieter moments, Pat found joy in studying the Bible and expressing her creativity through crafts. She had a particular passion for paper crafts and was well known for her beautiful, elaborate handmade greeting cards, which she lovingly shared with family and friends. She also loved to dance and could often be found joining in a line dance or tap dance with friends,
Pat was a graduate of Norview High School in Norfolk, Virginia, and later attended Tidewater Community College to enhance her business skills. She began her working life at Western Union while still in high school and later built a career as an accountant, working for Curtis Bay Towing Company and H & S Construction Co. Even in retirement, Pat liked to stay active and spent time working part-time at Disney World and several convention centers in Orlando, Florida, where she enjoyed meeting people from across the United States and Europe
Pat is survived by her children, Lou Ann (Steve) Taylor, Thomas (Marisol) Garrett, and David (Angie) Garrett; her grandchildren, Ian (Kiersten) Taylor, Leslie (Brian) Paulson, Norman (Amy) Garrett, Victoria Garrett, and Tina Bishai; and her great-grandchildren, Christopher Robbins, Katalina Bishai, Michael Bishai, and Christian Bishai, as well as three nieces and three nephews. She loved her family deeply and took great pride in each of them.
She was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather, Thomas E. Milner; her loving husband, Tommy; and her sisters, Peggy Jo Friend and Barbara Diane Stallings.
A private memorial service to celebrate Pat’s life will be held at a later date for close family and friends.
Memorial contributions in her honor may be made to Shamrock First Baptist Church, 2661 Marshall Rd N, Haines City, FL 33845.
