Patricia Mary (Onofrio) Florio
Passed away on September 29, 2014 at American Village Senior Community, Indianapolis. Born on June 25, 1925 in Chicago, IL. Patricia attended Wells High School and the University of Chicago. She taught elementary school at Santa Maria Addolorata. Patricia loved the arts, particularly vocal music and was a member of various choirs including the Niles Seminary Concert Choir. Active throughout her life in the Galewood Montclair Neighborhood, she was tenacious in working with the City of Chicago, local businesses and Chicago Public Library to successfully build a neighborhood library branch. She wrote a column in the local news journal, was president of the Chicago Outdoor Art League and a member of Chicago Beautiful. Patricia was preceded in death by her parents Pasquale and Mary Rose Onofrio, her husband, Nelio Anthony Florio, brothers, Angelo and Joseph Onofrio. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Ann Forseth(Martin), JoEllen Florio Rossebo, grandchildren Olivia, Lily and Collin, great granddaughter Anna. There will be a celebration of her life at the Carlton Hotel, Oak Park, IL at 12:00 PM on October 25, 2014. The interment will be private. Memorials may be made to Arts for Learning Indiana.
