Patricia Bates Hoffmann 

Patricia Hoffmann passed away peacefully of natural causes at the age of 89 on Saturday, February 26, 2022, surrounded by her family. A lifelong resident of Indianapolis, Patty was born January 21, 1933. She was the youngest daughter of the late Howard Haywood Bates and Miriam Weir Bates and the sister of the late Jean Ann Bates Vonnegut. Patty graduated from Shortridge High School in the Class of 1950, and she was an honorary member of Delta Delta Delta sorority at Butler University. Patty was a talented amateur actor and a very skilled floral arranger. She was a creative person with a delightful sense of humor.

She was the wife of the late Robert Hoffmann, who died in 1999. She is survived by her five children: Ken Hixon, Jeff Hixon, Cathryn Hixon Bayless, John Hixon, and Steven Hixon; her grandchildren: Samuel, Lillian, Charles, Hayley, Saoirse, Nate, Michelle, Sierra and Rhianna; her seven great-grandchildren; and her nieces: Catherine Vonnegut and Marjorie Vonnegut Batic.

Calling will be held from 4pm until 8pm on Friday, March 4, 2022, at Flanner Buchanan-Broad Ripple (1305 Broad Ripple Avenue, Indianapolis), where a Celebration of Life Service will follow at 10am on Saturday, March 5, 2022.
