Patricia (Manning) Floreck Arbuckle
Patricia, “Trish”, was born February 17, 1955, in Indianapolis, IN, the third of four children of Wanda Y. and Dr. K. Randolph Manning. She was descended from Nicholas Yager, who immigrated from Hesse, Germany, to Culpepper County, Virginia, in 1717. Nicholas III came to Indiana in 1816.
She graduated from the University of Indianapolis School of Nursing in 1978. During her 38-year nursing career, she worked at Riley Children’s Hospital and Methodist Hospital. She became an Oncology Nurse Certified and specialized in pediatric oncology. During those years, great strides were made in the treatment of children with cancer. She was involved in many clinical trials with Indiana Oncology-Hematology Consultants and the Children’s Cancer Study Group of California. She ended her career working for Interim Health Care doing home infusions for children.
Patricia married William Floreck in 1976, with whom she had two sons: Benjamin R. Floreck (Jamey) and Stephen E. Floreck. She was remarried in 2003 to Steven R. Arbuckle, who had two daughters: Katherine E. Harber (Tim) and Bonnie N. Weber (Jesse). She had six beloved grandchildren: Samuel and Henry Floreck; Fitzgerald, Isabel, Felix, and Lewis Harber.
Patricia served on several boards during and after her career: American Cancer Society, Little Red Door, and Pediatric Oncology Nurses Association. She was also a member of the American Nurses Association and Indiana Nurses Association, St. Luke’s Methodist Church, DAR, Day Nursery Association, and the Children’s Museum.
Entertaining was very enjoyable for her, and she especially loved having Valentine’s Day and Kentucky Derby parties. Besides cooking, her favorite hobbies were gardening and reading with her friends in the Brebeuf Book Club.
