Patricia Alice Kerr (Thoreson)

Patricia Alice Kerr (Thoreson), of Indianapolis, IN, passed away peacefully with family and close friends on Wednesday, November 2, 2022.   Born on April 9, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Carl Henry Thoreson and Mary Maxine Thoreson (Reitmeyer) in Battle Creek, MI.  Known by friends and family as Trisha, Pat, Gogo and Mildred, she grew up an “Army brat” and lived in Fairbanks, AK, Anchorage, AK, Ft Bragg, NC, Angouleme, France, Chicago, IL and Indianapolis all by the time she turned 18 years.

Trisha was a retired Registered Nurse.  She was thoughtful, generous, loving and had an infectious laugh.  Her favorite pastime was traveling, and she most recently visited Scotland in September and Mackinac Island in October.  She loved all types of music from jazz to blues to classic rock & roll and was a huge Beatles fan.

She had 2 granddaughters, Maggie & Penny, that she was so proud of and loved very much.  They called her Gogo because she wanted to be called “Grammy” and when they were little could only pronounce Goey, which eventually evolved into Gogo.  One of Trisha’s quirks was that she always came up with nicknames and acronyms, so it was very fitting that her granddaughters gave her the nickname Gogo.

She spent the last six years of her life with her partner Jim Harter, which have been her happiest and best years.  She and Jim spent time together traveling, attending concerts, visiting with family, and they adopted a rescue Airedale Terrier, Ella.

Trisha and Jim had a 21^st– century romance beginning on-line (OkCupid) dating and quickly realizing that they belonged together, even if it had taken half a century to find each other.  They brought each other a level of happiness they had never experienced.  Even though it was far too short, they lived a full and happy life together.

Patricia leaves behind a loving family in her life partner Jim Harter, daughter Erin Winings (husband Chad), granddaughters Maggie and Penny Winings, and sister Kathi Thoreson.  She also leaves behind a large group of friends from 40+ years of living and working in Indianapolis.

A Memorial and Celebration of Life Gathering will be held Saturday, December 17, 2022, from 3:00-6:00, at Woodland Country Club, 100 Woodland Lane, Carmel, IN 46033.
