Orval Leon Huskisson,
age 90, of Greencastle, Indiana, entered the gates of Heaven on the morning of Tuesday, March 17, 2026. Orval was born on June 5, 1935, in Scotland, Illinois. He was one of eight children born to the late Barney and Pauline (Eslinger) Huskisson.
Orval married the love of his life, Alice Marie (Robbins) Huskisson in 1954. They spent 62 beautiful years together until her passing on March 26, 2016. Their life together was marked by deep affection and countless adventures as they raised their four children: Alan, Philip, Kenny, and Christina.
Orval proudly served his country with honor and commitment, dedicating 44 years to the National Guard. Beyond his service, he was a man of many talents—a gifted handyman and jack of all trades, who even built his own home. Those who were fortunate to know him will fondly remember his quick wit, infectious laughter, boundless kindness, and those warm heartfelt hugs that brought comfort to so many. Active until the end, Orval took great joy in visiting family and friends, going on fishing trips, and sharpening his skills through hunting.
Orval was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alice M. Huskisson; his beloved sons, Alan Huskisson, Philip Huskisson, and Kenny Huskisson; his only daughter, Christina A. (Matthew Sr.) McMurray; one grandson; his three brothers, Wilmer Huskisson, Aubrey Huskisson, and Robert Huskisson; and one sister, Bonnie Huskisson.
Orval’s memory will be lovingly cherished by his sisters, Nancy Wood, Patricia Ham, and Sarah Grider; granddaughters, Amber Luke, Tabitha Huskisson, Meranda Bimrose and Melinda McMurray; grandsons, Kevin Luke, Joseph Huskisson, Christopher (Angie) Huskisson, Paul Huskisson, Jason Ikemire, Matthew McMurray Jr., Mark McMurray and Brandon McMurray; 19 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family.
Family, friends, and community members are invited to honor Orval’s life during a visitation on Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Flanner Buchanan – Floral Park, located at 425 North Holt Road, Indianapolis, IN 46222.
His funeral service, complete with Military Honors, will commence promptly at 12:00 p.m. Following the service, the family warmly welcomes attendees to join them for a small luncheon.
Orval Leon Huskisson will be laid to rest alongside his beloved wife, Alice, at Floral Park Cemetery—a resting place befitting a man who stood as a pillar of strength, love, and dedication to all who knew him.
The family encourages all to make a donation in Orval’s memory to the charity of their choice.
