Opal 'Jeanie' N. Hamblin Cassida

Opal N. "Jeanie" Cassida 93, of Indianapolis, passed away on Monday, October 10, 2011. She was born on November 17, 1917 in St. Louis, MO to Harry and Mary (Hockman) Hamblin. Jeanie worked for LS Ayres in the jewelry repair department for several years until her retirement. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, especially her trips out west and to Myrtle Beach. Jeanie was a very gifted seamstress and a talented ballroom dancer. She was an active member of the Mt. Olive United Methodist Church in Indianapolis, and the Bridgeport 513 Eastern Star, where she held several positions over the years. Among all her activities, she will be remembered most as a loving wife and mother. She is survived by her children, Dixie (Michael) Teets and Thomas (Michele) Cassida; grandchildren, Candy, Erik, Brandy, Bridget, Mark; 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Jeanie is also survived by her sister, Sarabeth Ogden; sister-in-law, Mary Dubois; and several nieces and nephews, including a very special niece, Judy. She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 65 years, Harold Cassida; grandchildren, Jackie Bailey and Melanie Lee Vize; 2 brothers and 1 sister. Funeral Services for Mrs. Cassida will be held at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center-Speedway on Friday, October 14, 2011 at 11am, with burial at Floral Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 4 until 8pm, also at the funeral center, with an Eastern Star service given at 6pm. Memorial Contributions may be given to the Mt.
