Opal Gist

Opal Gist, 83 of Indianapolis passed away on June 26, 2017. She was born December 2, 1933 in Indianapolis to Clifford and Cynthia Lacey. She graduated from Tipton High School in 1951 and on July 7, 1956, she married George W. Gist. She retired from GM in 1999 after 32 years of service. She enjoyed growing flowers and QVC but her main focus in life was taking care of her family.

In addition to her parents, Opal is preceded in death by her husband, George, five sisters and two brothers. Surviving to cherish her memory are her children, Greg (Charlotte) Gist, Gary (Daphne) Gist and Lisa (Doug) Hubbard, her sister, Deloris Mosteller as well as grandchildren, Angie, Alison, Heather, Weston, Erin, and Ashley and great-grandchildren, Brayden, Brianna, Blake, Bryce, Colton, Cierra, Jessica, Kyle, Maddie and Olivia “Livi”.

Friends may visit with her family from 11 AM until service time at 1 PM Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Flanner and Buchanan – Decatur Township, 5463 Kentucky Avenue, Indianapolis.
