Odella Mae Major, age 96, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on January 10, 2024. She was born on May 26, 1927, to Will and Reba Hughes in Holden, West Virginia. A proud graduate of Aracoma High School in Logan, West Virginia.

Fondly remembered, Burrell Bridges Major and Odella joined in matrimony on May 20, 1972.

Odella's life was a tapestry woven with love, laughter, and a deep connection to her community.

With a passion for creativity and hospitality, Odella found joy in knitting, sewing, hosting holiday dinners, and engaging in card games like Bidwiz, Bridge, Dad, and Spades. Odella's professional endeavors reflected her diverse talents and unwavering dedication. As a dental hygienist, serving at Dr. Claude Newsom Dentistry, she brought smiles to countless faces, ensuring not only oral health but also fostering genuine connections with her patients.  Her entrepreneurial spirit was shown through the world of sales and consulting. Odella was a force, showcasing her skills for Bee Line Clothing, Tupperware, Mary Kay, and Avon. Her enthusiasm and commitment made her a trusted and beloved figure in the lives of those she served.

A devout Catholic, Odella was a dedicated member of Saints Peter & Paul Cathedral and later found solace in attending Saint Michael The Archangel Catholic Church in Indianapolis, IN. Her commitment extended beyond the church, reaching into various community organizations, including The Knights of Peter Claver & Ladies Auxiliary, the American Business Women's Association, and the Red Hat Society.

Odella was preceded in death by her loving husband, Burrell Major (2002), and son Claude Jones (2022), as well as her beloved parents and siblings. She leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth, cherished by her children Robert Jones Jr. (Gayle), Verreece Squires (Acie), William Jones, and Larry Jones, along with grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends. Odella embraced every connection with an open heart, never meeting a stranger.
