Served in the Army Reserves Corps of Engineers from 1959 until honorably discharged in 1967
Spent entire career as an electrical engineer and manager employed by Delco Remy division of General Motors in Anderson, Indiana (1959-1992)
Survived by wife of 65 years Joyce of Carmel, IN; son Stephen (wife Julie) of Austin, TX; son Clark (wife Jill) of Carmel, IN; grandchildren Andrew Bassett of Grand Haven, MI, Sierra Bassett (husband Cole Miller) of Austin, TX, Noah Bassett of Grand Haven, MI, Spencer Bassett of Austin, TX, and Mia Bassett of Carmel, IN; brother Donald (wife Bonnie) Bassett of Ballwin, MO, sister Janice Rosenburg of Rolla, MO, sister Arlene Shanks of Vienna, MO; sister-in-law Colleen (husband John) Barnhart of Vienna, MO; many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members
Preceded in death by parents Wayne & Opal Bassett, parents-in-law Ernie & Myrene Edwards, and brothers-in-law Tom Rosenburg and Lloyd Shanks
Beloved and dedicated husband, son, father, grandfather, and friend to many; quiet, thoughtful, generous man with great strength; always ready to assist those in need; longtime, former member of Central Christian Church in Anderson, IN; loved spending time with family and friends, reading, genealogy, astronomy, boating and fishing
