Norman Harry “Hank” Kiesel, 97, Carmel, passed away July 12, 2026. He was born in Erie, Pennsylvania to the late Walter G. and Margaret Ruth Kiesel.
He graduated from Washington Irving High School in Clarksburg, WV before going on to earn his Engineering Degree from West Virginia University in 1951. While at WVU, Hank met his wife of 67 years, Anita Hamman.
He was an engineer for the Curtis Wright Company in Caldwell, NJ then later took a job with McDonald Aircraft company which later became McDonald Douglass, then Boeing. After an early retirement, he volunteered at St Lukes Hospital in Chesterfield, MO and at the same took up running, which was his passion.
He continued to run and hung up his running shoes at the age of 80 and proceeded to walk until 97.
Hank was preceded in death by his wife Anita, daughter, Janet Blackwell, his sister Olive Schaffer and his great grandson, Jace Roeder. Survivors include his son, Barry and his wife Kim, five grandchildren, Matt Roeder, Adrienne Kiesel, Jake Kiesel, Josh Babcock, and Nick Peskoe, six great grandchildren, Brittany, Carter, Kingston, Asher, Bowen, River, Micah, Mila and two great-great grandchildren Auggie and Clara.

Visitation will be held Saturday August 1, 2026, from 1:00pm-3:00pm at Cooper Trace Assisted Living 1250 146th St, Westfield, IN. A memorial service will begin there at 2:00pm. Online condolences may be shared at www.flannerbuchanan.com.
