Norma Jean (Schnarr) Thompson

88, was born in Winchester, Indiana and passed from this life on August 5, 2016. Norma and her family ran the Daisy Theatre in Indianapolis. Norma attended Washington High School and graduated from Indiana University with a degree in Medical Technology where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She was an accomplished pilot flying her plane the “Daisy Loop Coupe”.

After college, Norma worked for Dr. Louis Y. Mezzini at the Indiana State Board of Health lab. She and her husband were founders and owners of Animal Adventure and Speedway Pet Shop for over 50 years. She was a regular TV guest on “Kindergarten College” where she brought both her son and a new furry friend for each episode.

Norma was involved with her sorority, helping to build the new IU sorority house. She was a past president of the 500 Optimist Club and worked with the organization for many years raising money for charity. She was a ballroom dancer, avid traveler, voracious reader, old movie buff and loved Pomeranian dogs.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, (James) Neil Thompson, her parents, Glenn Schnarr and Lydia (Genre) Schnarr. She is survived by her son Dale Eric Thompson and daughter-in-law Sue (Rodgers) Thompson, cousins Marilee (Geisler) Husselman and Pat (Geisler) McLeod, sister-in-law, Virginia (Fenton) Thompson and her brother Jack Fenton, nephews, Ty and Steve Thompson and niece, Christine (Thompson) Schultz. Norma never met a stranger and had many lifelong friends!

Calling will be held on Friday, August 12, 2016 at Flanner and Buchanan-Speedway from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a celebration of her life on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will be at West Ridge Park Cemetery.
