Norma Jean Moore

September 19, 1936 — March 31, 2023

Heltonville, IN

Norma Jean Moore (Scudder) passed away on Friday March 31, 2023, with her daughters by her side. She was born on September 19, 1936 to her parents Chester and Geraldine (Slack) Scudder. While she was in high school, she met Morris Moore Jr, whom she would go onto marry and share 64 wonderful years with.

Norma and Morris moved to Indianapolis the day after their wedding. Together they had two daughters, Marci and Marla. They spent lots of time together as a family. Norma was known as her family’s biggest supporter. She was always there cheering on her kids and eventually her grandchildren and great grandchildren as her family legacy grew. Norma was eventually diagnosed with breast cancer. She was a fighter and never gave up; she managed to beat her cancer twice. Norma worked at Wishard Hospital for 36 years as a medical secretary in the cardiology department.

Norma enjoyed various activities and hobbies throughout her life. She loved going to casinos and gambling. She also enjoyed playing euchre every now and then with her friends. She also loved sports. She enjoyed watching the Colts as well as Indiana University Basketball. Her family says that her claim to fame was her cooking. Norma was an excellent cook, always preparing meals for family gatherings and holidays. She also enjoyed watching game shows on television and playing crossword puzzles. Even though she loved all of these things, what she cherished the most was her family. She will be greatly missed by everyone that knew her.

Norma is survived by her daughters, Marciann (Todd) Kreigh and Marla (Gary) Lyons; her grandchildren Lauren Kreigh, Samuel (Casey) Kreigh Sr., Nolan Kreigh, Jacob (Layla) Blackburn, Caleb Blackburn; her great grandchildren Addisyn Kreigh, Samuel Kreigh Jr. (SJ), Charlotte Blackburn, Emma Blackburn; her siblings Marsha Patterson, Lois Turner, Leroy Scudder, and dear friend for many years Betty Thoman.

She is preceded in passing by her parents, her loving husband Morris, and her dear friend Chauncey Thoman.
