Norma Jean Cooke, 88, Noblesville, passed away on December 29, 2023. She was born in Mooresville, IN to Paul L. Hale and Clarice (Mills) Hale. She graduated from Jackson Central High School in 1953 after which she was hired at Fort Benjamin Harrison in the Personnel Department where she worked until her retirement in September 1988. She loved her family and friends and enjoyed attending her family’s athletic events, reading books, playing cards, crocheting, fishing, traveling to visit family and friends, going on cruise ship trips, music, and taking friends and family to various appointments when they needed transportation.
As a member of Fishers United Methodist Church, she was often found at one of the entrances greeting members and in her small group the “Pathfinders”. She cherished her church family and loved singing in the choir.
She was a member of the Indiana Federation of Business and Professional Women’s organization Fort Harrison Chapter and later moved to the Fortville Chapter, where throughout her 30 plus years of membership she held many positions and was President from 2010-2012.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 42 years, William D Cooke, brothers Kenneth Hale, Thomas Hale and sister Sally (Hale) Coverdale.
Survivors include her brother Donald Hale and his wife Cheryl (Wann) Hale, her sons Michael Cooke and his wife Peggy (Dicken) Cooke, Robin Cooke and his wife Janice (Snyder) Cooke, grandchildren Stacy (Cooke) Dona and her husband Christopher Dona, Zachary Cooke and his wife Keri (Von Kalinowski) Cooke, Katelynn (Cooke) Smith and her husband Roosevelt Smith, Jeramie Cooke and his wife Sylvia (Leeman) Cooke, Ashley Cooke, along with 16 great grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Fishers United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be held Thursday January 4th from 10:00am to 12:00pm at Fishers United Methodist Church, 9691 E 116th St, Fishers, IN 46037. Funeral services will begin there at 12:00pm. Online condolences may be shared at www.flannerbuchanan.com.
