Noel Good

December 24, 1927 — July 27, 2013

Noel Eugene Good, 85, of Zionsville, died July 27. He was born December 24, 1927, in Lewisburg, Ohio, to Cecil and Mary (Huechting) Good. Noel worked forty years for Rock Island Refinery in Indianapolis, retiring in 1989. He was preceded in death by Pearl (Domi), his wife of 57 years. He is survived by a daughter, Toni, of Madison, Wisconsin; a sister, Ruthannah Keevers, of Greenwood; and many nieces and nephews. After graduation from Pike High School in 1945, Noel attended Butler University on a football scholarship. Because he knew how to type, he was assigned a desk job in Yokohama when he began military service in Japan after the war. But his days as an Army secretary were numbered. His division soon recruited him to its baseball and football teams. One of his fondest memories was playing an exhibition baseball game to a packed stadium in Tokyo. Later he coached Pike Township Little League. A visitation will be held Thursday, August 1, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Flanner & Buchanan Funeral Center-Zionsville with burial at 1:30 p.m. at Lincoln Memory Gardens in Whitestown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. Vincent Hospice, Indianapolis.
