Nobuko Suzuki, 66, passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, May 11, 2012.
She was born May 18, 1945 in Odawara, Japan, the fourth of five children of Tadao and Yoshiko Yazawa. Nobuko is survived by her husband of 39 years, David, children Michael and Jennifer, and grandchildren Matthew, Ava, and one "on the way."
Nobuko taught Japanese in Lawrence and Washington Township schools as well as for Berlitz. She loved flowers, ceramics, painting and stitching crafts. Her concern for and care of others, especially the elderly, was a reflection of her compassionate nature. The excellence of her cooking was well known. She was a member of the Japanese American Citizens League, volunteered for the Japan-American Society, and enjoyed studying ceramics at Sho-Art Studio.
A Memorial Service will be held June 9, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Flanner and Buchanan-Washington Park North. Her ashes will be interred at the Chapel of the Chimes in Oakland, CA.
