Nita Louise Cheli

Nita Louise Cheli, age 88 of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away peacefully on Sunday afternoon, February 11, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.  Nita was born on September 21, 1935 in Sioux City, Iowa, a daughter of James and Lila (Showalter) Frey.

Nita met her husband Frank in Europe and they married on October 28, 1967.  She is survived by her husband Frank Cheli of Indianapolis, a daughter Jennifer Graves (husband Todd), two grandchildren Gretchen and Carter, all of Avon, Indiana.  She is also survived by her brother Russel of Pine Top, Arizona.

Nita grew up in Sioux City, Iowa, and graduated from East High and Iowa State University.

After college she became a stewardess for Tran World Airways.  Further employment revolved around IBM where she was an office manager.

Nita and her husband Frank traveled extensively throughout South East Asia, the Middle East and Europe.  Following extensive corporate careers, the family has had residence in San Francisco, New York, Miami, Winston Salem, North Carolina, Danville, New Jersey, Wilton, Connecticut and Indianapolis.

Nita was a member of Tri Delta Sorority.  She was also a member of and with her husband attended Fifth Church of Christ Scientist, Indianapolis.

Nita's loves included her family, her church, gardening, kittens and dogs. 

A Memorial Service and Celebration of Nita's life will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Flanner Buchanan - Geist, located at 7855 Cork Road, Indianapolis, Indiana 46236.

A lunch reception will follow the service also at Flanner Buchanan - Geist.

The family has requested that NO flowers be sent.
