Nicholas J. O'Donnell

Nicholas J. O’Donnell, 69, of Indianapolis, passed away on January 2, 2026. He was born in Indianapolis to Margaret Thecla (Denk) and John Joseph O’Donnell on February 15, 1956. Nick graduated from Cathedral High School. He attended Indiana University and remained an avid Hoosier fan his entire life. He was able to experience the Hoosier Rose Bowl victory over Alabama on his last full day in this world.

Nick spent his early career working in automotive conditioning products, having worked several years for Car Brite. Nick spent his later years and most of his professional life in property management. He retired in 2024 from Buckingham Companies in Indianapolis as a Senior Director of Capital Expenditures. He took pride in his professional life and made many friends during his career.

Nick is survived by his mother, Margaret Thecla O’Donnell, and son Christopher O’Donnell. Nick was the oldest of 7 children, and his 6 siblings survive: Patricia Griffey, Joan O’Donnell, Tim (April) O’Donnell, Maureen (Paul) Rumer, John (Robyn) O’Donnell, and Mary Ruth (Pete) Rumer. Nick is also survived by several nieces and nephews, as well as 8 great nieces and nephews. Nick loved it when the great nieces and nephews would come for a visit.

Nick never lacked for a quick one liner that could make everyone laugh, and his family and friends will dearly miss him.

Visitation and a memorial gathering for Nick will be at Flanner Buchanan-Broad Ripple on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 11:00 am. A Celebration of Life will commence immediately following at 12:00 pm.
