Neva Kauffman

February 15, 1919 — August 19, 2012

Neva Persons Kauffman has gone home! On Sunday evening August 19, 2012, Neva peacefully left her house in Carmel and entered her eternal home where she is now with Jesus whom she loved and served. She is reunited with friends and family members who had gone before. She now resides in a heavenly mansion that God built just for her in a land where there are no more tears, no more pain, and no more death. She is more alive now than she ever was in her 93 years on earth. Neva Persons was born in Erie, Pennsylvania on February 15, 1919. In 1941, she graduated from Nyack Bible College, Nyack, New York. As a young married woman, she moved to Indianapolis, Indiana where she raised her family of two boys and three girls. She taught them to love God's Word. Her older son Reese remembers that Neva required him to read his Bible every night before he went to bed – a practice which he and Nerus, Jill, Terri, and Kimber continue to this day. As children, they never left for school in the morning without a prayer and Bible reading with Mom. Neva had an excellent eye for design. A talent she put to good use in her eighteen years as a designer at L.S. Ayers Department store. She then worked at Love's Furniture Gallery in Zionsville, Indiana until she was 76 years of age. She greatly enjoyed her church, College Park, her small group, her painting, and her flower garden. She was blessed with many friends from all around the world. She loved to travel. Twice she took trips completely around the world. She visited forty-eight countries and forty-eight of the United States. She loved to do volunteer work for Christian mission organizations. In the past twenty-five years, she regularly volunteered at Child Evangelism Fellowship's International Headquarters in Warrenton, Missouri. Often she would drive to CEF headquarters with friends in order to serve. She loved God's Word. Her favorite verse was Nahum 1:7- : "The lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and he knows those who trust in him." She patterned her life according to 2 Peter 1: 1-12 which was her favorite passage of scripture. ..…add to your faith, goodness….., knowledge..…, self-control….., perseverance….., godliness….., brotherly kindness….., love. If you have these qualities in increasing measure they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. The passive closes saying- "if you do these things, you will never fall, and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Neva's life was effective and productive! She is now receiving her "rich welcome" in heaven. Neva was preceded in death by her father, mother, sister and brother. She leaves behind five children, 11 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m., August 31, 2012, in the chapel of College Park Church, 2606 West 96th Street Indianapolis, IN 46268. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to her favorite charity: Child Evangelism Fellowship Inc. P.O. Box 348, Warrenton, Missouri, 63383-0348. You are invited to go to the Guest Book page to pass along your personal message or tell a story. Sincerely, -Your friends at Flanner and Buchanan
