On June 20, 2024, Jesus welcomed Neva Joyce to His loving arms along with her parents Elmer and Altae Chandler, her siblings Forrest, Betty, Jean, Audrey, and Lynn that preceded her in death. Born April 16, 1928, Neva grew up on a farm in Lexington, Indiana and dreamed of a day she would marry a handsome man in uniform. And she did when she met her husband, Luther “Rich” Condre who served in the Army Air Corps. Neva was destined for city life and left the farm to travel with Rich while he was serving. Neva became active in local politics in Indianapolis, served as a Republican committee member, and held polls in her home. (Indianapolis Mayor Hudnut considered her a great friend to the party.) She was a faithful member of Washington Street Presbyterian Church and loved playing the piano during worship.

She raised three sons and a daughter. She enjoyed unique bonds with each child: Traveling the country vacationing with Gunner and his family, attending events with the Shriners and Indy 500 racing. She enjoyed her journeys with Terry and his family taking the less traveled road to explore small diners, antiques and watching her granddaughter and great granddaughters participate in sports. Neva’s daughter, Marsha was her best friend, and they shared a love of movies, television, Hollywood gossip, and reading mostly the latest biography. Her youngest Mike was gifted with Neva’s smile and ability to light up a room with their laughter and by sharing funny stories growing up as the youngest.

She leaves behind a beloved nephew and nieces. The whole family spent treasured moments at the Montgomery/Chandler family farm. To know Neva is to love her and her remarkable memory, which she inherited from her mother. She prided herself on keeping her Indianapolis home in immaculate shape, planting geraniums in her window planters and playing on the same piano she used at church. Neva leaves behind four generations of family including nine grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. They all loved how special she made each one of them feel. She cherished every drawing, card, and letter by saving all of them. Her legacy will last for many generations and her soul will rest with her Savior, Jesus Christ. In her memory, please consider planting a red geranium.
