Nellie Katherine Ransdell

Nellie Katherine Ransdell, 92, of Speedway, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2014. She was born on September 25, 1921 in Jessamine County, KY to Clay and Maggie (Sageser) Jasper. Nellie attended the University of Kentucky and worked at the Indiana State Board of Animal Health as a stenographer for 22 years. She was an active member of the Speedway Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with her family. Nellie is survived by children, Sheryl (Derek) Miller, Dan (Annie) Ransdell, Gerri Hampe; 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters, Mildred Garrison and Mary L. Anderson. Nellie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John M. Ransdell; brothers, Woodrow, Stanley and Paul Jasper; sister, Ada Scanlon. Visitation for Nellie will be held at Flanner and Buchanan – Speedway on Friday, January 31, 2014 from 4 until 6pm, with funeral services beginning at 6pm. Additional services and burial will take place on Saturday in Nicholasville, KY. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society.
