Nelda Marie Forde Smith 88, of Indianapolis, IN passed away on Monday, September 12, 2011. She was born on November 29, 1922 in Muscatine, IA to Arno Christopher and Nell (McGaughey) Bruemmer. Nelda graduated from the University of Southern California and was a member and the Past President of both the Westside Charity League and the National Charity League. She was also the President of the Coronet Ball Board. Among many things, she will be remembered most for her love of life. Nelda was always the perfect hostess and a true entertainer; and the only things she loved more than a good party, was her cats and college football. She is survived by her daughters, Valerie Forde Bennett and her husband Donald and Kimberlee Forde Wilson, and her husband Mike. Nelda is also survived by grandchildren, Melissa McKnelly Jones, Lindsay Marie Wilson; step grandchildren, Michael and Tim Bennett; great grandchildren, Sarah, Anna, Brooke and Brandon. She was preceded in death by her first husband, George Alexander Forde, who was a partner at the Scudder and Forde law offices in Pacific Palisades; second husband, Kenneth Dale Smith of Castaic, California; granddaughter, Kristan Leah Wilson; brother, Robert Bruemmer. Funeral services will be held at Inglewood Mortuary in Inglewood, CA on Friday, September 23, 2011 at 11:30am, with visitation 1 hour prior to the services. Entombment will take place in Inglewood Park Cemetery, immediately following the funeral services.
