Ned S.Schurr
90, ofSpeedway, IN passed away peacefully in his sleep March 3, 2016.
Ned was bornon July 15, 1925 in Sidney, Ohio to Frank and Daisy (Smallwood) Schurr.
Nedgraduated from Sidney High School in 1943. After high school, Ned enlisted inthe Army Air Force, serving in Asia Pacific Theater during WWII. Upon returninghome, Ned attended and graduated from Bowling Green State University. Ned married Doris Snavley on October 3,1954. Ned worked for General Motors Allison Gas Turbine Division as a MilitaryParts Sales Engineer for 39 years, until his retirement. Ned lived his life for the Lord and was anactive member of the Speedway United Methodist Church and Men's group. Outside of work he enjoyed playing cards,fishing, attending racing events at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, servingthe community through the Speedway Lions Club and attending or watching anysporting event that he could find. Nedbegan his lifelong habit of joking and pranking in high school (together with hisbrother Bud) at their father's gas station.
He waspreceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Don "Bud" and John"Frank". He is survived by hiswife of 61 years, Doris Snavley; daughters Jill (Christopher) Folland of ClearLake, IN and Jodi (Charlie) Pilecki of Veedersburg, IN and son Jay Schurr ofSpeedway, IN; and grandchildren, Zachary and Kaileigh Folland and CalebPilecki.
Visitationwill be held Friday, 3/11, 5-7pm and Saturday, 3/12, 12-1pm with services at1pm at Flanner and Buchanan- Speedway, 2950 High School Road. Entombment will be in Floral ParkCemetery.
