In Loving Memory of Natalie F. Workman-Hyatte

January 2, 1950 – May 11, 2025

With hearts full of love and deep gratitude for a life marked by grace, strength, and unwavering devotion, we honor the memory of Natalie F. Workman-Hyatte, who passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of faith, family, and quiet elegance.

Born on January 2, 1950, in Savannah, Georgia, Natalie was the beloved daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Moses and Ethel F.K. Butler. She graduated from Richard Arnold High School in 1968 and later attended Purdue University-Indianapolis, where she pursued a degree in Psychology, guided by her compassionate spirit and intellectual curiosity.

Natalie dedicated her professional life to public service, with a longstanding administrative career in Health and Human Services. She served with care and distinction at the Marion County Health Department and the Indiana State Board of Health. Her leadership extended to the private sector as well, where she worked as an office manager at Montgomery Ward Department Store until her retirement.

In 1976, Natalie became a devoted member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, where her faith blossomed and became a central part of her life. She was an active parishioner and served as lecturer, sharing the Word with warmth and dignity. Blessed with a beautiful singing voice, Natalie often uplifted those around her through music and ministry, bringing light to many through her spiritual gifts.

Natalie’s joy was found in the beauty of everyday life – reading and writing poetry, solving crossword puzzles, antique and thrift shopping, listening to music, watching her favorite period piece, Downton Abbey, tending to her garden, and transforming her home with her love for decorating and DIY projects. She cherished quiet afternoons with her furry companions and meaningful time spent with her children, grandchildren, and treasured friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; older brothers, Robert Cooper Jr., Harry Cooper, Ronald Cooper, and Omar Cooper; her sister, Victoria Battle; and her beloved husband, William Joseph Hyatte, with whom she shared a deep and enduring love.

Natalie’s legacy lives on through her four children: Troy S. Thomas (Diane), Royce E. Thomas (Monique), Shane L. Thomas (Jordan), and Hope G. Pace (Michael). She also leaves behind thirteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and lifelong friends who will forever remember her kindness, her laughter, and her generous heart.

Natalie’s life was a beautiful testament to love, perseverance, and the power of a nurturing soul. Though she may no longer walk beside us, her spirit blooms eternal in the hearts of all who had the joy of knowing her.
