Nancy Ann Wasson Whisler

Nancy Ann Wasson Whisler, age 94, of Indianapolis, Indiana and Sun City Center, Florida died August 11, 2026, in Greenfield, Indiana.

Born October 18, 1931, Nancy was the third child of George and Lena Wasson in Kewanee, Illinois. After high school, Nancy attended Kentucky Christian College in Grayson, Kentucky where she earned an associate arts degree and met the love of her life, Robert Whisler. Robert and Nancy were married 66 years, and they served as a ministry team for several churches in Kentucky, Illinois, and Indiana until they settled in Indianapolis, Indiana. Nancy and Robert had three children; Stephen, David, and Leann.

Nancy loved going to church, singing hymns, and teaching Bible studies. She also loved traveling and has visited all fifty states and approximately 42 foreign countries with New Zealand, Norway, and Austria being her favorites. Even though she lost her eyesight at age 57, Nancy had an adventurous spirit and loved being on the go. Nancy also loved the orphanage she helped start in Myanmar called The Peace Children's Home.

Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Robert T. Whisler, her brothers George and Dexter, and son Stephen.

She is survived by her children; David T. Whisler (Kathy) of Sun City Center, Florida and Leann Emery (Bill) of Fortville, Indiana; a sister Renee Wasson Sisson (Bill) of Bradenton, Florida; grandchildren Phil Whisler (Deb), Nathan Whisler (Erin), Mat Whisler, Matthew Emery (Cassie), Rebekah Duncan (Chauncey), Benjamin Emery and 3 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

A memorial service will be held at Hope Christian Church, Indianapolis, Indiana on October 11, 2026, at 1:00pm for visitation and 2:00pm for service after lunch at the church.
