Nancy Rumery

Nancy A. Rumery, 83, of Carmel, Indiana, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2014, at Maple Park Village in Westfield, Indiana, seven weeks after being diagnosed with cancer. Her devoted husband, Harold, was at her side. Born in Greenfield, MA on July 9, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Arthur E. and Elsie (Mattson) DesNoyer. She graduated from Washington Lee High School in Arlington, Virginia, where she lived while her father, an Air Force Lt. Colonel, worked at the Pentagon. She was a homemaker, who especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved dancing, and belonged to square dancing and two-step groups. She was a former resident of Buckland, was employed by Blassberg's Firestone and Kendall Mills, and for ten years was an owner-operator of a tractor trailer truck along with her husband. In addition to her husband of 40 years, Harold R. Rumery, Nancy is survived by her four sons, Craig Gerry and his partner, Julie Sidon, of Heath; Todd Gerry and his partner, Susan Nye, of Ashfield; Mark Gerry of Byfield, MA; and Michael Gerry and his wife, Pamela, of Buckland. She also leaves her grandchildren, Brandon Gandolfi-Gerry and his wife, Stephanie; Todd Gerry, Jr. and his wife, Kim; Timothy Gerry; Tyler Gerry and his wife, Kelly; Cordelia Gerry; Eloise Gerry; and Daniel Gerry. She also leaves ten great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Sonja, Cody, Brendan, Madison, Logan, Ryan, Abby, Macy and Brynn Gerry. She was pre-deceased by her daughter, Cheryl Ann, in 1953, and a great-granddaughter, Jillian. The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to Nancy's caregivers at Maple Park Village for the compassionate care and comfort given to her. Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM on Saturday, May 24, at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Chapel in Carmel, where family and friends are invited to calling hours from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Friday, May 23. A memorial service will be held in Massachusetts at a later date.
