Nancy Dee Richter of Carmel, Indiana went to be with the Lord on May 26, 2025. She was married to the love of her life, William Don Richter (deceased) for more than 52 years.
Nancy was a long-time member of Walnut Grove Chapel, where she taught Sunday School and Children’s Church for many years. She was also involved in Bible Study Fellowship for nearly 30 years, where she taught in the children’s ministry, ladies studies, and was a teaching leader.
Nancy was an avid reader and loved books, so it’s not surprising that after her kids went to college, she took a job at the Carmel Clay Public Library. She worked in the Audio-Video department for almost 25 years and made wonderful friends there.
Nancy had a wonderful artistic gift. She loved to draw and make creative crafts. She even taught art classes for a few years to a couple of her grandchildren, who were homeschooled. She loved color and having lots of flowers on her patio. She also had a soft spot for felines, and fostered several cats over the years.
She was the matriarch of the family, hosting family gatherings, holiday meals, and the annual family vacation to Lake Tippecanoe, IN. She loved being a grandma, hosting ‘grandma camp’ with crafts, games, and fun for all the kids during the summers.
She is survived by her children, Holly Layer (Chris) and David Richter (Linda); her grandchildren, Andrew Layer ( Holly), Carolyn Tatlow (Benjamin), Hannah Wingo (Taylor), Abigail Johnson (Marvin), and Luke Richter (Kelsey); and great-grandchildren, Blake, Chloe, Mason, Nora, Maelle, Emmett, Hampton, Olivia, Conrad, Vivian, and one due in October.
Nancy will be remembered for her joy and laughter. She was kind and will be missed by everyone who knew her.
