Nancy Reynolds Sheldon passed away on June 2, 2026. Nancy was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, to John and Dorothy Reynolds. She graduated from Thomas Carr Howe High School. Nancy spent her career working for the Indianapolis Public Library before her retirement.
Nancy and her husband, Bob Sheldon, lived on Sweetwater Lake in Brown County. She enjoyed sewing and cooking. She also loved traveling to the nearby riverboats and playing the penny slots. She spent many weekend trips traveling with her friend Marilyn to Shipshewana and other northern Indiana cities looking for new fabric. They traveled with their sewing machines and loved their time sewing and talking. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren. One reoccurring highlight was their special trips with “Nanny” to Steak and Shake, as well as her drives to North Carolina to visit family.
Nancy spent her last several years living at Traditions at Solana in Indianapolis. She loved her time there and made many great friends with both the residents and staff. A special thank you to the staff, who cared for Nancy while she battled with dementia.
Nancy is predeceased by her parents, John and Dorothy Reynolds and her brother Steve Reynolds. She is survived by her husband Bob Sheldon, her sister Joni Schneider (Bill), sister-in-law Vickie Reynolds, daughter Lyn O’Brien (Pat), son Dean McAnally (Karen), stepdaughter Nicki Reimondo (Rob), as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Nancy never met a stranger. She will be missed by everyone who had a chance to know her.
Visitation will occur Monday, June 15th at Flanner and Buchanan located at 10722 E. Washington St, Indianapolis, IN from 2pm to 4pm, with a brief prayer service to follow. Burial will occur immediately following at Washington Park East Cemetery located adjacent to Flanner and Buchanan.
