Nancy E. Mercuri

August 26, 1943 — January 1, 2026

Carmel, IN

Nancy Elizabeth Munro Mercuri of Carmel, IN, passed away on January 1, 2026, at the age of 82. She was born in Long Island, NY, on August 26, 1943, to parents, James and Marguerite (Davis) Munro. She was the heart of her family and the soul of her home. A woman of quiet strength, endless generosity, and unwavering love, Nancy lived her life in devoted service to the people she cherished most.

She was a graduate of Hudson Valley Community College and began her professional life as a dental hygienist. She met the love of her life, Vincent in Albany, NY and they married on June 4, 1966. Though she took pride in her work, Nancy was happiest when she and Vincent began their family. From that moment on, her true calling revealed itself—not as a career, but as a mother, wife, and homemaker. It was in these roles that Nancy truly shined.

Together, Vincent and Nancy embraced a life blessed with shared passions: traveling together, entertaining and nurturing lifelong friendships with people who became family in every way that mattered.

Nancy could do it all. She was a green thumb gardener, a wonderful cook, a skilled seamstress, a gracious host and devout in her Catholic faith. She poured her creativity and care into everything she touched. Her generosity extended far beyond her own home through years of volunteer work—at church and her daughter’s schools. Wherever help was needed, Nancy was there.

Home was where Nancy belonged, and it was where she created something truly special. She and Vincent built a place that welcomed everyone—a home full of warmth, laughter, and comfort. Her love language was feeding people, and there was always room at their table. Family, friends, neighbors and anyone who happened to stop by were met with an open door, a cold beer, and a seat waiting just for them.

Of all her cherished roles, perhaps none brought her more joy than being a grandmother. “Mawmaw” was her favorite title, and she wore it with pride. Endless summer days by the pool, cousin sleepovers, and mornings that somehow always included ice cream for breakfast became treasured memories under her watchful, loving care. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and her love for them knew no bounds.

Nancy will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to know her. Though her absence leaves an immeasurable ache, her legacy lives on in the home she created, the family she nurtured, and the countless lives she touched with her kindness. She will be forever remembered—for her love, her generosity, and the way she made everyone feel like they were part of the family.

Nancy is survived by her husband Vincent; daughters, Kim (Tim) Urquhart, Lori (Mark) McDonough, Susan (Andy) Abbott; grandchildren, Katelyn (Jackson) Moench, Riley (Jennifer) McDonough, Griffin McDonough, Megan Abbott, Cole Abbott, Lucas (Makayle) Ranger, Benjamin (Shannon) Ranger, Samuel Ranger, Nathan (Audrey) Urquhart. Great-grandchildren, Knox and Anderson Urquhart and Baby Moench, due in March. She also will be greatly missed by her beloved dogs, Rudy and Alfie.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
