Nancy G. Kendall Wynne

April 18, 1924 — June 28, 2025

Indianapolis, IN

Nancy Kendall Wynne passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the age of 101.

She is survived by her daughters, Paula Kendall Pritchard (Jim) and Allyson Kendall Inglis. Affectionately known as Gammy to her five grandchildren—Matt Pritchard (Megan), Toby Pritchard (Darlene), Chris Pritchard, Kerry Inglis, and Kyle Inglis (Julia)—she was lovingly called Gigi by her six great-grandchildren: Addy Pritchard, Gwyneth Pritchard, Henry Pritchard, Alice Pritchard, Zoe Inglis, and Piper Inglis. In her later years, she also proudly answered to Queen Mum, embracing her role as the family matriarch with grace and humor.

Nancy was born on April 18, 1924, in North Tonawanda, New York, to Gertrude and Roy Greer. As a child, she loved watching her family carve horses at her grandfather’s factory, the Herschell-Spillman Carousel Company. By age 10, her father had already begun teaching her how to invest in the stock market—a passion she continued until she was 99. She made sure every grandchild knew the importance of reinvesting their dividends.

Nancy married Herbert Parkman (Park) Kendall on December 27, 1942, in North Tonawanda. The couple moved to Indianapolis in 1945, where they raised their family and lived until Park’s passing in 1989. A sharp and competitive card player, Nancy enjoyed playing bridge for over 80 years.

Later in life, she met Tom Wynne Sr. and fell in love a second time. They married in 1997 at Northminster Church in Indianapolis and shared ten wonderful years together until Tom's passing in 2007. Nancy and Tom loved to travel and could often be found working on crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, cruising at sunset on the lake with a scotch or bourbon in hand, and playing bridge with friends.

Nancy often joked that the secret to her longevity was bourbon and dark chocolate. She adored her family, never lost her competitive edge, and at 101 years old was still beating her devoted caregivers at gin rummy.

If you’d like to raise a glass in her honor, make it a short glass—with plenty of ice, a good pour of bourbon, and just a splash of water.

A celebration of life will be held at Northminster Presbyterian Church, located at 1660 Kessler Boulevard East Drive, Indianapolis, IN 46220, on Saturday, July 26th. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Indianapolis Tennis and Education Foundation, PO Box 40534 Indianapolis, IN 46240, in honor of Nancy Kendall Wynne, or Northminster Presbyterian Church, 1660 Kessler Boulevard East Dr, Indianapolis, IN 46220-2782.
