Indianapolis, Indiana – Nancy Jane Holle Johnson, 82, passed away on March 24, 2024, after a brief battle with illness. Nancy was born to August and Bernice (Bishop) Holle, in Indianapolis, Indiana on January 27, 1942.
Nancy graduated from Broad Ripple High School where she was a varsity cheerleader. She attended both Purdue and Butler and was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta. In 1961, she was a Princess in the “500” Festival. She received her undergraduate degree from Lindenwood College (now Lindenwood University) and her master’s degree from Truman State University in Missouri.
Nancy and her husband Jim were married in Indianapolis at Northwood Christian Church on September 8, 1961. She began her professional career as a director of a college-based pre-school and then was an elementary teacher for more than twenty years serving in Missouri, Florida, and Indiana. She later served as a real estate professional for Century 21 and Sycamore Realtors in Indianapolis.
Whether cheering on her children and grandchildren at sporting events or actively engaging in various school, church, and social activities, she enjoyed people. Through her acts of kindness and selflessness, Nancy touched the lives of countless individuals. Her warm personality endeared her to everyone she met, and she truly never knew a stranger. Her legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Nancy is survived by her beloved husband, Jim; children Joanna and Jim (Cindy); brothers Chuck (Ruth Ann) and Gary (Diana); grandchildren Bailey (Zach), Trent, Colin, and Jennifer; and great-grandchildren Collins and Palmer.
A Memorial Service will be held at Geist Christian Church (Mud Creek Campus), 8550 Mud Creek Road, Indianapolis (46256) on Sunday, April 21 at 2:00 p.m. with a reception following.
In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Nancy may be sent to Geist Christian Church for children and youth ministries or to Wheeler Mission, 205 E. New York St., Indianapolis, IN 46204-2114.
