Obituary

Nancy Sue (Griffith) Henry, 85, of Fishers, Indiana, passed away on August 9, 2026. She was born on July 14, 1941, in La Porte, Indiana, to parents, Thorl and Bernice Griffith.

Nancy graduated from Shelbyville High School with high honors as well as received 3 Varsity letters for basketball, softball and bowling. She attended Purdue University where she was a member of Phi Mu Sorority and graduated with BS in Mathematics and minor in English in 1963. She spent that summer hitchhiking through Europe with her friend Sally. She continued her education with a Masters in Mathematics Education at Indiana University, where she met her husband, Loren. Nancy and Loren married on January 21, 1967.

Nancy taught Mathematics for over 40 years at junior high, high school and college levels. She was the first female teacher at Brebeuf Jesuit Prep School (all boys at that time) in Indianapolis in 1967. She met many challenges head on at Brebeuf that paved the way for other female teachers. She was very well respected by her peers and students. In fact, students from Purdue West Lafayette campus would drive to IU Kokomo to take her Calculus class. She was also faculty advisor for Student Government at IU Kokomo for 15 years.

Loren and Nancy enjoyed camping for 50 years, visiting many State and National Parks. Some of her favorites were the Rocky Mountains and Shenandoah National Parks. They spent 10 summers volunteering at Camp Friendship in MD which supported children with cancer. Nancy cherished her time with her family and friends, especially baking Christmas cookies with her grandchildren, and traveling in the US and Europe to visit friends and family. She was also an active member in church, Psi Iota Psi and PEO.

Nancy is survived by her loving husband, Loren Henry; daughter, Suzanne (Andrew) Taggart; four grandchildren, Brandon, Tyler, & Kara Koers and William Taggart; brother, Ed Griffith; Swedish daughter, Elisabeth (Anders) Flodin, Swedish granddaughters Charolotte & Caroline Flodin; as well as several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Lisa (Tim) Koers; sister, Alice (Dan) Wisker, sister-in-law, Beverly Gough;
