Nancy Jo Green

On July 9, 2026, God called Nancy Jo (Funkhouser) Green home to serve as one of his loving angels. Nancy was born on October 24, 1944, in Carmi, Illinois, to Harry & Edna Funkhouser.

While she was teaching at St. Bartholomew School in Columbus, IN, Nancy met Joseph Green. Despite his red hair and freckles, they married on June 12, 1965. Together they raised 4 children. She modeled the importance of education for her children by continuing her own college education, while raising her family and working a full-time job. She retired from Community Hospital East after working many years in Payroll and Information Systems.

She is survived by her children, Dudley (Maura) Green of Greenwood, IN, Michael (Jennifer) Green of New Palestine, IN, Kelly (Robert) Fascia, of Naperville, IL, and Beth (Andrew) Sauber, of Cincinnati, OH. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, her brother Carroll of Solitude, IN, and numerous nieces and nephews.

What Nancy enjoyed most in this world was being a grandmother and great-grandmother. She always had a story or picture of her family ready to share with those she met. Nancy also enjoyed logic puzzles, crocheting, and playing cards. 

Visitation for Nancy will take place on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, from 5:00-7:00pm at Flanner Buchanan Memorial Park Funeral Home, 9350 E. Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN 46229. Funeral Mass for Nancy is scheduled for 10am on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at St. Bartholemew Catholic Church, 1306 27th Street, Columbus, Indiana 47201 followed by burial at Garland Brook Cemetery.
