Muriel Rose Hornsby Age 85, of Indianapolis, passed away Tuesday, March 15,2016. She was born March 12, 1931, in Bay City, Michigan to the late Clarence and Roberta(Martin) Bonem. Muriel married her high school sweetheart, Robert VerlHornsby, on September 2,1950. They moved their young family to Indianapolis in 1965, and shared55 years of married life together. Muriel loved her family deeply, considered her volunteerwork at the Alzheimers Association her passion, and was a loyal member of St Gabriel Parish for 51years. She cheered loudly for the Pacers and enjoyed spending time with her friends at HoosierPark and the Goodwin Center. In addition to her husband Bob, Muriel was preceded in deathby her brothers Bud, Donald and Jimmy, and her sister Peggy. She is survived by daughters,Pamela Jean Blakely and Konnie Marie Schlechte (John); son, Robert William Hornsby(Jennifer); grandchildren, Chip Dowden (Sara), Brian Dowden (Gina), Kevin Garvey (Heather), LeslieGarvey, and Katie Hornsby, treasured great grandchildren Joshua, Jackson, Zachary,Mason, James and Kinley; bonus grandchildren, Erik and Alexandra; and her sister Dorothy. Friends may visit Friday, March 18, 2016, from 9-11 a.m. atSaint Gabriel Catholic Church, Indianapolis. A funeral mass will follow at 11 a.m. Burialwill be at West Ridge Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Muriel’s family requests memorialcontributions to the Alzheimers Association of Central Indiana. Flanner and Buchanan-Speedway are handling funeral arrangements.
