Monty Anthony Giver

Monty Anthony Giver, age 76, of Fort Wayne, IN died on Friday, December 11, 2020 at the VA Hospital in Fort Wayne.  Born on November 26, 1944 he was the son of the late Keith L. and Cecilia M. (Daub) Giver.  He was a 1963 graduate of Peru High School and then attended Purdue University before enlisting to serve his country in the United States Army.  He fought in the Vietnam War and upon his honorable discharge he had been promoted to Sergeant.  He earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Merit Unit Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal.

Monty worked for UPS Freight previously Overnite Transportation Company in transportation sales before retiring.

Monty brightened a room with his warmth and smile while gathering attention at events and gatherings with his ability to engage in great conversation.  He always enjoyed a good card game with family and friends often taking time to help teach the finer points of the game being played.  He was an avid fan of college and professional sports including his favorite teams the Colts, Cubs and Pacers.  In his retirement Monty enjoyed traveling, reading, solving puzzle books and spending time with his grandchildren.  Monty was a very kind man who loved and cherished his family.  Whether as a loving husband, big brother or guiding father and grandfather he had room in his heart for all.

On January 2, 1982 he married his high school sweetheart, Joyce Ann (Guyer) Giver, she survives.  He also leaves behind 6 children who will cherish his memory, Gerrianne (Brad) DeBellis, Lynette (Terry) Illy, Cinnamon (Mike) Bombard, Ginger (Chance) Harris, Aaron (Patti) Books and Nicole (Pat) Early; 18 grandchildren Frank, Issac, Victoria, Garth, Zachary, Amanda, Alex, Maddie, Carmen, Lindsey, Matthias, Martina, Madison, Emily, Brier, Lucas, Olivia and Parker; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, Loretta Reece, Bernadette (Loren) Hays, Bernard (Debi) Giver, Steve (Luanne) Giver, Julie (Joe) Ashland, Margie (Greg) Flowers and David (Shirley) Giver.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister and brother-in-law, Clo and Steve Eder and brother, Frank Giver.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Flanner Buchanan – Hamilton Memorial Park, 4180 Westfield Road, Noblesville, IN.  Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. with calling one hour prior at the funeral home.  Entombment will follow at the cemetery.
