Mona Alyce (Buchanan) Cook, 67, of Indianapolis, passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2019, at New Hope of Indiana. She was born on April 1, 1951 in Beech Grove to the late Frank and Era (Creasy) Buchanan.
Since she was born on April Fool’s day, her family enjoyed playing jokes and pranks on her.
She retired from the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center as a Phlebotomist.
Her interests included reading, traveling, camping, music, thrift shopping, collecting teddy bears, angels and spending time with her family. She was known for her quick wit and her kind and compassionate spirit.
She was preceded in death by her husband James Anthony Cook and her grandson Joshua Aikman.
She is survived by her brother James Buchanan; 3 daughters, Lisa (Jay) Coffman, Marla Simpson, Karla (Brian) Miller; grandchildren, Erin, Savannah (James), Kevin, Tommy, Ameelia, Levi; great-grandchildren, Gaige, Jordan, Zoey, Koda, Atlas and Kyler.
Visitation will be held Saturday, March 30, 2-4 pm, followed by the funeral service at 4 pm, at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN.
A private burial will be on Wednesday, April 3rd, at 1pm.
Memorial contributions may be made to Covenant House in Chicago or Feed the Children.
