Mitchell Edward Marlow, 61, of Fishers, Indiana, passed away on May 15, 2026, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. Mitch was born on December 27, 1964 to Marjorie Wright and Edward Marlow, in Muncie, Indiana. In addition to his parents, Mitch is survived by his wife of twenty-two years, Allison Marlow, son Mitchell Marlow, step daughter Aileen Eck, grandchild Harper Baker, brother Marc Marlow, cousins, extended family, and many, many friends.
From a young age, thru adulthood, Mitch was an athlete. He was a life-long L.A. Doger fan from the age of four. He loved fishing with his grandfather “Ike” and spending time with his cousins. Mitch attended Yorktown High School where as a “Yorktown Tiger”, he played football, basketball, and most importantly baseball, setting school records and helping to win championships.
After Mitch graduated from Yorktown High School on 1983, he attended the University of Charleston on a baseball scholarship. He was scouted by the Cincinnati Reds. He was sidelined after his sophomore year due to a diagnosis of histoplasmosis affecting his peripheral vision and forever ending his ability to play professionally. Mitch returned to his hometown and completed his degree in Psychology at Ball State University.
Mitch’s professional life was initially that of Property Insurance Adjuster and later an Examiner- Supervisor. Mitch worked in the “field” meeting with people after devastating damage to their property. His compassion and kindness often recognized as he assisted others in times of crisis. Mitch traveled and handled claims for many catastrophic storms including Hurricane Fran, Andrew, Irene, Matthew and Hugo. Mitch was unafraid and unwavering, in storms and in life. He always had great faith in God and people.
Mitch worked in Insurance Claims for nearly thirty years, exiting due to the progression of his Parkinson’s disease. He opted for the Deep Brain Stimulation surgery but suffered a hemorrhagic stroke. He fought back hard for over a year. His last year was filled with rehabilitation but also with many good times with friends and family. He always wanted to attend a gathering, party, concert or lunch, bringing his same smile and positive energy.
Mitch led a remarkable life filled with love, strength and humor. Mitch was deeply devoted to his family and friends. Mitch touched the lives of everyone who knew him. He was selfless, warm and generous. He had a large circle of friends including many going back to early childhood and many former work friends, that continued to support him. After being diagnosed with Parkinson’s and recovery from the surgery and stroke, he fought valiantly to maintain his strength and to enjoy life. Mitch remained optimistic, resilient, and grateful to his friends and family as well as the medical staff that supported him.
Mitch enjoyed sports and spending time with his family, friends, and his dogs. His family would often say that they would want to “come back as a Mitch Marlow dog”. Mitch had a quick wit, a generous heart, and a knack for making everyone laugh. He was known for his practical jokes, big personality and unwavering dedication to those he loved.
Mitch will be greatly missed and forever remembered. His legacy of laughter, loyalty, and love with be carried on by those who knew and adored him. Mitch’s last selfless act on earth was that of organ and tissue donation as he wanted to assist others to live, after he was gone.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday May 26, 2026 at St. Louis de Montfort Catholic Church at 10:30 with visitation prior to the Mass.
