Miriam L. Nolton, 81, of New Palestine, IN, formerly of Brownsburg was born August 26, 1934 and passed away on September 24, 2015. She was born in Frankfort, Indiana to Alonzo and Alia Krug. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Franklin D. Nolton and her brother, Gerald Krug. Surviving to cherish her memory is her daughter, Susan E. Lawson, granddaughter, Jennifer Smith, step-grandsons, Louis Lawson and David Lawson, great-grandchildren, Trent Smith and Tyler Smith, step-great-grandchildren, Brandi Lawson, Wesley Lawson, Brian Lawson and Jonathon Lawson and Step-great-great-grandson, Lucas Lawson as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Miriam was very involved with the Smyrna Shrine Guild of America where in 1986 she served as the Maharanee. She was also a member of the Murat Shrine, Scottish Rite, the Hoosier Hillbilly Clan, the Smyrna Comediennes and the Smyrna Drill Team. She was a Charter Member of the Royal Order of Jesterettes. In her early years, she served as a Leader of the Girl Scouts of America. She supported many charities that supported animal care and veterans causes.
