Minnie Maxie Hanna Southern

Mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great, great grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend to many. Minnie was called home to be with our heavenly Father on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, after living a long and prosperous God-filled life that spanned 102 years. She loved and was loved by many.

Minnie was born August 23, 1919 in Hopkinsville, Kentucky to Maxie and Susie Cox Hanna. In 1928, Minnie and her siblings were relocated to Indianapolis, Indiana, where she continued her education and later married and raised her family of twelve wonderful children. She was a caregiver to other family members and many others and a mother to the motherless. She never met a stranger. Once you met Minnie you became a part of her family and remained a part of the family. She always had a kind word and good advice on living a life representative of God; she was a wise and gracious individual.

Minnie was a faithful and committed servant of God; affiliated with Emmanuel Freewill Baptist Church and later with New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church of Indianapolis, where she acquired the title Church Mother. Her faith in God kept her strong, blessing her with long life.

In 2017, due to her advanced age, Minnie relocated to Bowie, Maryland where she lived out her final days surrounded by family and loved ones. Minnie will be truly missed but never forgotten.

Visitation will be Monday, May 9, 2022, from 12 pm to 1 pm at Flanner Buchanan-Floral Park. Service will be at 1 pm, Monday, May 9, 2022, at Flanner Buchanan-Floral Park. Burial will follow at Floral Park Cemetery.
