Avon, Indiana – Millie F. Riehl, 92, passed away on June 28, 2024. Millie was born in Bedford, Indiana, on June 19, 1932, to parents Roy & Bessie (Plake) Thompson.
Millie’s parents moved to Indianapolis shortly after birth and raised her until her graduation from Oolitic High School. In 1965, she went to work in Sarasota, Florida, for the Sarasota Water Company billing department until 1975. After which she moved back to Indianapolis and worked for Barth Electric Company until her retirement in 1995.
Millie was an outgoing and fun woman who was always the life of the party. A fashionista at heart, Millie would love to get dressed up to take in a show at Beef & Boards with her family, even encouraging them to pursue acting in high school and college. She sometimes could be found relaxing by playing the piano.
Kind and compassionate, Millie also had a funny streak, and loved comedies like Ghostbusters, Groundhogs Day, or Home Alone. That laughter she loved to share with her family, most of all. Whether that was at the theater, taking them to see movies, or just playing in the backyard with them.
In addition to her parents, Millie is preceded in death by her brother, Gerald Thompson; sister Lois Thompson, and children Larry Eldon Riehl and Randy John Riehl.
Millie is survived by her brother, Donald Gene Thompson, son Michael Riehl, grandchildren David Riehl, Chris Riehl, Sabrina Riehl, and Nikki Riehl; niece Samantha Blanchard; and 16 great-grandchildren.
