Mildred Theresa Callahan

Mildred Theresa Callahan, 94, Indianapolis, went home to be with her Lord January 12, 2018. She was born January 22, 1923 in Brazil, IN to the late Charles and Sadie Joseph. Mildred was a devout member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church for 51 years and was a eucharistic minister, taking communion to shut-ins and the sick. She attended daily Mass and touched many lives. She was an excellent listener and a caring wife and mother. She met her late husband of 71 years, Charles L. “Chuck” Callahan, Sr., (of Chuck Callahan Ford) at the Indiana Ballroom. Together they were avid dancers and later won several dance contests. A funeral Mass will be held at 12:00 noon Friday January 19, 2018 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, with visitation from 10am until the time of the service. She is survived by her children, Charles L. “Bud” (wife, Mary Ann) Callahan, Jr., Rita (husband, Brian) Wampler, James (wife, Jane) Callahan, Janice (husband, Richard) Griffith, and Robert (wife, Mary Ann) Callahan; 12 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and brother-in-law, Greg (wife, Joan) Callahan. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson, Joseph Griffith, and all four of her siblings. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
