Mildred L. 'Millie' Edwards

Mildred L. "Millie" Edwards, 89, of Indianapolis, passed away on Friday, January 20, 2012. She was born on November 19, 1922 in Greencastle, IN to Clifford and Dorothy (Stewart) Monnett. Millie was a 1940 graduate of Greencastle High School and attended the Central Business College in Indianapolis. She worked as a secretary for various companies in her lifetime, but her favorite positions were when she worked for her husband's business, J & E Electric, and her son's business, Big E Electric. Millie was an avid sports fan, cheering on the Colts and Pacers whenever they were on TV. She also enjoyed tennis and ice skating, and was a member of the Speedway Home Ec. Club. Most of all, she loved her family. She is survived by her daughters, Nancy (Brian) Haymond and Judy (Jerry) White; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Edwards. "Grandma Minnie" as she was known by her grandchildren, is survived by Kristy, Stephanie, Nick, Steven and Bradley; 3 great-grandchildren and many granddogs. Millie also leaves her brothers, Bud, Jerry and Keith Monnett; sisters, Marcia Campbell, Tishie Smith and Janice Inman. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Howard Edwards; son, Steven Edwards; brothers, Billy Ray Monnett and Donald Lee Monnett; brothers-in-law, Vic Inman, Bill Smith; nephew, Larry Monnett. Funeral services for Mrs. Edwards will be held at Flanner and Buchanan-Speedway on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at 11am. Visitation will be on Monday evening from 5 until 8pm, also at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Washington Park North Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
