Mildred Diane Middlebrooks Hollis Gooden, age 70, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2021.
Mildred was born on February 10, 1951, in Atlanta, GA to the late Robert Lee Parks and Mary Louise Middlebrooks Copeland. She grew up in both Cataula and Columbus, GA. She was a graduate of Carver High School and attended Florida A&M University.
Mildred worked for the St. Francis Health Network for over 25 years in both Columbus, GA and Michigan City, IN. She also worked for the St. Francis Medical Group as an Endoscopy Technician. She later went on to work at Indiana University Health where she retired as a Patient Tech Manager.
Mildred loved spending time with her family, going out to eat, and attending church services at Life Temple C.O.G.I.C. in Michigan City, IN and New Life Worship Center in Indianapolis, IN.
She was preceded in death by her former spouse, Russell Gooden; eldest son, Ronald Hollis Jr.; parents, Robert Lee Parks and Mary Louise Middlebrooks Copeland; and brothers, Jerome Copeland, and Calvin Copeland.
Left to cherish Mildred’s memory are her children, Rhonda Hollis, Yolanda (Kelevin) Hollis, Ella Hollis, Rodney (Tiffany) Hollis, and Russell (Jennifer) Hollis; two grandchildren, Kelevin Hamler and Rylee Holley; siblings, Yvonne (Charles) Edwards, Jacqueline Walker, Dorothy Jeffries, Bernard Lamar, and James (Latonia) Copeland; aunt, Rosie Mae Hudson; best friends, Sandra (Carl) Mayo and Donnita (Wesley) Scully; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral and repass services will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at 12pm. Visitation will begin at 11:00am. All services will be held at the following location:
