Michael Allen Coyle

Michael Allen Coyle, 76, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on May 31, 2026.

Mike was born on January 31, 1950, in Indianapolis. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged before working and retiring as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service. He then managed storage until retiring from HKP Properties.

In 1982, Mike married Debbie (Hurt) Coyle. They shared 43 years of marriage and built their life together in Indianapolis. Mike was the father of Kristi Simmons, Aleece Southern, and Jeff Coyle, and the grandfather of Alli, Libby, and Cooper.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie; his children, Kristi (Tracy), Aleece (Shane), and Jeff (Brenda); his grandchildren, Alli, Libby, and Cooper; his mother, Edna Boyd; his stepfather, Larry Boyd; and his sisters, Vickie Franklin and Sharon Beal.

Mike and Debbie were longtime members of Unity of Indianapolis where he served as a greeter and on many committees for over 30 years. He deeply loved his friends at church. In 2001, Mike became a member of the Advocates to the Indiana Osteopathic Association (AIOA) and served as President from 2007 until 2021 and received the Frances Allen–June Warner Award for outstanding service to the AIOA in 2010. Mike was passionate about helping the Motyka Dannin Osteopathic Educational Foundation (Motyka Dannin Foundation) raise and distribute funds primarily in support of the study of osteopathic medicine.

Mike was known for his quick wit, sense of humor, and endless supply of dad jokes. He enjoyed old Westerns, especially Gunsmoke, and could often be found watching reruns of his favorites. He enjoyed camping, and always talked about doing more of it someday in an RV. He loved eating out with family and friends too.

On Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 3:00 p.m., a memorial service celebrating Mike's life will be held at Unity of Indianapolis, 907 North Delaware Street, Indianapolis, IN 46202.
