Michelle Lynn Fischer (nee Caughey),58, of New Palestine Indiana, passed away early on August 27th, 2025. Michelle was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on October 23rd, 1966, to James and Karen Caughey (nee Coapstick). Michelle Graduated from Beech Grove High School and went on to earn a BS in Business Management from Hanover College.
Michelle worked in Banking with Railroadmen’s Federal Savings and Loan, Huntington Bank, National Bank of Indianapolis and Mortgage processing at Forum Credit Union.
Michelle was proceeded in death by grandparents, Eva & Ronald Coapstick; Dora & James Caughey; and Daughter Hanna Christine Fischer.
Michelle is survived by her husband Rick Fischer, daughters Molly Elizabeth Fischer, Madalynn Katherine Smith (nee Fischer) & her husband Slater Smith, Grandson Cassisus Richard Smith, Parents James & Karen Caughey, sister Kristen Ann Wilson (nee Caughey) and her husband Greg Wilson, nephew AJ Wilson, In-laws Richard and Wanda Fischer, Sister-law Pamela Baker (nee Fischer), her husband David Baker, nieces Alexis Pittman (nee Baker) & Kira Baker and extended family and close friends of Little Flower Catholic Church, specifically the “Lowell Family”.
Michelle was a woman of strong Christian faith. She enjoyed volunteering at Little Flower Catholic Church. Michelle was an exceptional mother, grandmother, and wife. She enjoyed the girls’ activities such as dance, music and soccer, when they were growing up. She was her husband’s best friend and enjoyed traveling, concerts and sporting events with him. She loved cheering on the Indianapolis Colts, but her real passion was spending time with family and friends. Although short in time, she relished the role of grandmother (Nana). Her defining attributes of loving mother, grandmother, wife, friend, daughter, sister are what those who survive her will remember about her most.
A visitation will be held 4-8pm Wednesday September 3rd, 2025, at Flanner Buchanan-Washington Park East Funeral Center. An additional visitation will be held 10-11am Thursday September 4th, 2025, at Little Flower Catholic Church with the funeral mass to follow at 11am. Michelle will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery after the mass.
