Michael Tyrone Green of Indianapolis, IN departed this life on Sunday, December 18, 2016 at the age of 57. Michael was born on August 22, 1959 in Trenton, TN, the oldest son of Tydus Green and Shirley (Johnson) Green. Michael attended school in Decatur, Illinois, graduating from MacArthur High School where he made his mark in track and field. Following graduation, Michael enlisted in the US Army where he was awarded numerous ribbons and metals. He completed tours in Germany and Korea. Michaels’s assignments included Instructor/Writer, Personnel Administration Specialist Course, and Adjutant General School where he was selected “The Instructor of the Year” for his commitment and dedication to his students. While serving his country, he earned a Degree in General Science from Vincennes University in 1993. Michael retired from the US Army in 1995 as a Staff Sergeant. Michael was currently employed as a Lead Customer Service Representative for the US Postal Service. Michael loved family gatherings and often found himself effortlessly making family and friends laugh hysterically. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, candid comments, and his altruism. He was an exceptional father, wonderful grandfather and uncle and the “fun and giving big brother”. Michael is survived by his children, Nikki (Charles) Jackson and Rodney (Feliesha) Green; his 7 grandchildren: Anthony, Ra’Montae, Kyanna Green, Rashia, Kiah, Khalil and Marijah. He is also survived by his brother Derrick Green and 2 sisters, Brenda (Dwight) McGee and Roslyn Green in addition to a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. Michael was preceded in death by his wife, Connie Green and father Tydus Green.
