Michael "Mike" Shelley, Indianapolis, has passed away at the age of 69.

Born on September 17, 1954, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to the Late Al and the Late Florence Shelley, Mike lived a life full of passion, entrepreneurship, and a deep love for all things sports.

From a young age, it was clear that Mike had a competitive spirit and an unwavering dedication to achieving his goals. Graduating from Bishop Chatard High School in 1972, he made his mark as the First String Defensive Tackle on the Bishop Chatard Varsity Football team. Mike's remarkable skills and leadership were instrumental in leading the Trojans to back-to-back championships in 1971 and 1972. His commitment to excellence earned him a full-ride scholarship to Northwood Institute in Michigan.

After completing his education, Mike embarked on an entrepreneurial journey, co-founding a family furniture business that quickly began to flourish.  As a Factory Representative, he left an indelible impression on everyone he met.

While Mike found fulfillment in his career, his true joy came from his many hobbies and interests. He was an avid sports enthusiast who could always be found immersing himself in various athletic endeavors. From football to foosball, Mike had an unwavering enthusiasm for all types of sports. He especially held a deep appreciation for sports cars and was known as a connoisseur of Classic Muscle Cars, Corvettes, and Porsches. Rarely would he turn down an opportunity to exhibit his prized possessions and share stories about their history.

Mike's love for football extended beyond watching from home; he proudly held season tickets for the Indianapolis Colts for many years. He was a regular presence at home games but also made sure not to miss any away matches either. A True Blue Colts Fan, Mike's passion for the sport was contagious to all those around him.

Beyond his achievements in business and his love for sports, Mike will be remembered for his charismatic personality. He never met a stranger, making friends wherever he went. With his infectious energy and good humor, he made every interaction memorable. Mike was a fun-loving individual who knew how to bring laughter and joy into any situation.

Sadly, on November 29, 2023, Mike passed away in Indianapolis, Indiana after battling an extended illness. While he may no longer be with us physically, the impact he made on the lives of those fortunate enough to know him will continue to live on. His positive spirit and zest for life will forever be cherished by all who had the pleasure of crossing paths with him.

Mike is survived by his loving family: his sister Julie Shelley and brothers Jim (Trudy) Shelley. He was a dedicated uncle to his niece Sofia Shelley and nephews Ryan and Wynn Darring.
