Michael Ray Tarpley, 64, of Indianapolis passed away on February 28, 2020. He was born on April 18, 1955 to the late Ray Tarpley and Myrtle Malicoat in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Michael was one of a kind. He was always there when people needed him and was described as everyone’s “Go-To Guy.” He was so selfless in the way he helped people; he’d give anyone the shirt off his back. Michael owned a junkyard and could be described as a “Jack of All Trades.” He was a mechanic practically his whole life. Michael loved his sweets, especially chocolates. He was an avid Harley rider, and took pride in his beautiful purple bike. Most of all, Michael loved his family; his beloved kids and his grandchildren who affectionately referred to him as “Papaw”, and even his dogs who he leaves behind. Michael touched many hearts throughout his life, and he will be deeply missed by everyone.
Michael is survived by his children, Shane Tarpley, Heather Melton, Ashley Tarpley, Donna Tarpley, and Michael “Murf” Montgomery; his siblings, Velta Osullivan, Anita Knox (Jeff), and Angela Meehan (Pat); his grandchildren, Morgan, Jared, Michael, Michaela, Madyson, Kyla, and Addison; his great-grandson, Mason; former wife of 25 years, Nancy Tarpley; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings, Kurt Tarpley, Sharon Mynatt, and Dennis Malicoat
