Michael Raymond Flockhart, son of the Late Walter Loren and Lois Viola Flockhart, was born August 14, 1943 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Michael attended Indianapolis Public Schools and graduated from Arsenal Technical High School. Michael joined the United States Air Force and served in the Viet Nam war. Michael attended Indiana State Teachers College.
Michael accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior in December 1976, after having a heavenly experience which changed his life forever. He joined House of Prayer Ministries, Indianapolis, Indiana serving in the evangelism ministry.
Michael Flockhart was the President and CEO of The Royalty Group, Inc. (“TRG”). TRG was a Christian ministry serving the inner city of Indianapolis. Michael and his colleagues enjoyed blessing children in group homes and orphanages with sweatshirts and hats to demonstrate someone cared and that they were loved by God.
Michael met the love of his life (“his Bride” as he always introduced her to others), Patricia Ann McVea in December 1998. Michael was united in Holy Matrimony to Patricia McVea-Flockhart on April 27, 2003. Together they attended Crossroads Bible College, Indianapolis, served the church and Christian ministries until Michael’s health called them to a ministry of “Caregiving”. Michael loved being a “servant of the Lord”. He was a choir member, a greeter, customer service associate and a project coordinator for Sister Friends Fellowship. But Michael was an “evangelist”. He never met a stranger. He was fondly called Bro. Michael—“a name God gave him he said”. People would meet him and ask, how was his day? and that opened the door for him to faithfully respond “it’s the greatest day of my life”. You know why? Because of Him” (pointing to heaven). He would then talk about Jesus Christ and pray with you about anything. Michael believed there was no problem too big for God to handle or any sickness that God could not heal. If you told Michael about a problem, he would stop in the middle of the conversation and pray. Michael was a friend, mentor, confidant, encourager, father, grand-father and servant to many. Michael enjoyed reading his Bible and his favorite scriptures were Psalm 91 and Numbers 6:24-26. Michael liked watching various westerns and NCIS. He enjoyed a variety of music genres: Christian/Gospel, Classical, Symphony, and Oldies. Michael loved ballroom dancing and enjoyed and teaching others how to dance. He enjoyed making a joyful noise to the Lord wherever he was. He would always move to the beat and spin you around for a quick dance. He enjoyed life!
Michael Raymond Flockhart, having celebrated his 77th birthday, with so much love and life to share, departed this life and went home to Heaven to live eternally with Jesus Christ on August 24, 2020.
He leaves to cherish his life, legacy and memory his devoted wife and best friend, Patricia A. Flockhart; brothers, Walter “Pat” Flockhart (New Castle, Indiana) and Paul Edward Flockhart (Richmond, Virginia); nephews Tim Flockhart and Matt Flockhart (New Castle, Indiana).
