Michael "Mike" Thomas Curran

Michael Thomas “Mike” Curran, 75, Beech Grove, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2023 with his loving wife at his side. Mike was born in Indianapolis on November 5, 1947 to Herbert and Cecilia Curran who preceded him in death. Mike was raised in Beech Grove and was a 1965 graduate of Beech Grove High School. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served honorably for five years.  His time in military service included a tour in Vietnam.

In 1971 Mike joined the Beech Grove Police Department where he protected and served the local community for 33 years. During his career in law enforcement Mike rose through the ranks, eventually being appointed Chief of Police, a position he held until his retirement. Mike was a graduate of the University of Indianapolis, a Master Instructor at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy, and a graduate of the 158^th Session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

In 1993 Mike married the love of his life, Kim “K.C.” Cullom-Curran. They spent 30 years together, making memories, sharing laughs, and truly enjoying life.

Mike will be remembered as one who was always there to lend a hand to anyone in need, especially to those who just could not seem to get a break – he didn’t know a stranger. Mike loved Notre Dame Football, his Corvette, and his Harley Davidson. Missed will be Mike’s unique sense of humor, his listening ear, and his bright smile. He touched many and will be missed terribly.

Mike is survived by his wife, Kim, his sister Susan Johnson, his fur baby, Belle, and a host of extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 14^th, 2023 from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM with a memorial service  immediately following. There will be an informal gathering after the service. These activities will be held at the Flanner-Buchanan Community Life Center, 10612 E. Washington Street in Indianapolis.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Franciscan Health Hospice House, the Glioblastoma Foundation, or the IndyHumane Animal Shelter.
